A fighter pilot, or a professional scuba diver.

Hi Fisherman97! Do you like fishing?

If I wasn’t a scientist, I would like to be an artist – I really enjoy drawing and sculpting, and I would love to be good enough to have exhibitions and galleries. Either that, or a professional dancer!

I think I’d like being a teacher. I’ve done some work with schools and its been lots of fun

I don’t really know. I’ve spent so long trying to be a scientist that I’m not sure what I’d do otherwise.

I did once consider retraining as a physics teacher which I feel would be really worthwhile. Your teachers all work really hard to try to help you learn about the world you live in.

I think I’d enjoy doing something in science communication or education if I couldn’t work in science research, but there are not that many of those jobs either…..

Unfortunately I’m still not sure I’ll be able to be in science long term – as getting a permanent job as a researcher or in a university is really hard. So even though I’ve spent the last 12 years working as a scientist I may have to figure something else out soon.

I would love to run my own plant nursery. In fact my wife and I talk about this and maybe we will give it ago, and maybe in Australia because that is where she is from. I think you use a lot of science in growing plants which would suit me down to the ground. (<- Get the joke?)
