• Question: do you think we could have hotel ships out in space ?

      I’m sure if we could Richard Branson (Virgin) would be the first to do it. And I would love to visit if I could afford it!

      It’ll definitely happen at some point. We might even start building houses up there eventually. I think the hotels would mostly be a novelty for rich people though – as soon as you got used to zero-g you’d probably get bored.

      If they were in a high orbit I’d probably just be able to sit and look at the view of Earth though.

      It would be very cool if we did. I bet they would be really expensive though!

      Somebody is trying to do this already, look for Bigelow Aerospace.

      I think it will take quite a long time, though, and there won’t be ships that travel between the planets before I am gone, so don’t hold your breath.

      Oh I really hope so! We’d have to develop a foolproof technology to create oxygen and recycle waste first, and that’s what I’ll be working on in my new job!

      If you like the idea of science fiction, you should read books by Stephen Baxter – he ahs some really ambitious ideas for what people will do when we have the technology to stay in space for a long time!
