I don’t work in cancer research but there are a lot of scientists who do and new treatments are being investigated all of the time. Cancer is a collection of many different diseases which can affect different types of cells in your body. Each different type of cancer requires a different type of treatment and some cancers are much easier to treat than others and so more people get better. If scientists could find a single cure for all cancers it would be fantastic, but I think that it is many years away and may not be possible.

Though we are much better at treating it than we used to be, scientists haven’t yet been able to find a simple cure for cancer that works for all people because there are so many different types of cancer, and it can be very difficult to get rid of once it is in your body.

I wrote an article last year about some scientists who were developing a drug that might be able to kill a lot of cancers by starving them, and it was made from a chemical from crocuses. But these drugs are all still being tested, and there’s nothing more effective at the moment than radio and chemotherapy.
