  I have a theory, which might be a bit silly, that being a scientist is really quite a natural thing for human beings to do. We’re all quite curious and like investigating things, which is all science is.
  
  So I could say I’ve been a scientist since I was born!
  
  But I’ve only really been /paid/ to do science for the last year… Before that I had to pay other people to let me do it!
  
  I decided to do science probably when I did my A levels. I had a very good physics teacher that inspired me and gave me a lot of freedom to look into interesting stuff.

I like Adam’s answer – I think that in some way we are all scientists! I’ve worked in science since I graduated from my first degree, so thats 7 and a half years now, and I still love it (most days!)
