Well the spacecraft that my instrument is meant to travel on should be launched in 2016, after I finish my research. I need to submit my PhD by 2015, but I might be able to carry on the research after that. Hopefully we will start getting results by about 2017, which would be when the real fun starts!
The experiment I’m working on is due to fly to Mars in 2018. We have to deliver the complete experiment to the European Space Agency in 2015, so I’ll probably work on something else after that but hopefully will be able to come back to help analyse the data from the mission
I think this question is mostly for Adam and the others working on the new Mars instruments. I’ll be watching their progress closely too because I am really curious about how their search and findings will affect what people think about life on Mars 🙂
