• Question: In your research do you have to deal with radioactivity?

      Not really, no.

      I have held some radioactive sources in the past, but radiation doesn’t really come in to my current research.

      No, but we do have some rocks in our lab that are radioactive that we use in some demonstrations. They were collected from a beach in Spain.

      No. Although I did learn about it in my physics degree and I have even taught about it at a very basic level in a maths course (as a real life example or probability).

      Not normally, but I am using a big particle accelerator to get X-ray pictures of my fossils. When the particles crash into one another they create all kinds of radiation, so I have to wear a monitor and if it gets too high I’m not allowed to go back for a while.
