• Question: surely people will become really anti social because of tecnology?? :)

      There are people that believe we’re becoming anti social. This may well be true, but there is no evidence for it.

      In fact, studies that have been done show (to some extent) that things like facebook and twitter actually make us more social, just that they change those interactions.

      I think technology makes it easier for us to stay in touch with our friends and families, especially with people who live a long distance away. Perhaps using social networks more means that we might make fewer phone calls, but humans don’t function well without social interaction, so I don’t think technology will make us more anti-social

      Some technology keeps people physically apart, yes – like headphones and the internet, but so much technology actually brings people together.

      It’s never been easier to travel half way across the world, or send a message that will be received just a moment later, or come together and cooperate with strangers. No, we might not do so much face -to- face, but does that make us any less social?

      I thought because of technology we are becoming “differently” social. So we talk more to people further away, but perhaps don’t know the people on our street so well. There are lots of other things that cause this, like people moving away from where they grow up so they have to make new friends all over again.

      As humans, we are social animals so we, basically, need to be social to be happy and healthy. (Although it is also normal for some people to not want to socialise at all too; we’re all different!)
