1 Question: what is the cemical name for a fart? Keywords: chemical, fart, human body Asked by greywolf01 to Adam, Catherine, Karen, Leila, Nazim on 14 Mar 2012.
Adam Stevens answered on 13 Mar 2012:
Bum gas.
Not really! The most scientific name would be “flatulence”.
Leila Battison answered on 13 Mar 2012:
Bottom burp.
If you are doing a lot of farting, you would have ‘flatulence’ but if you wanted to talk about a specific fart, it would be your ‘flatulus’. 😉
Karen Masters answered on 14 Mar 2012:
It’s mostly methane I think. On Titan (the biggest moon of Saturn) there are lakes of liquid methane. Brian Cox on QI has described them as “liquid farts” which amused the comedians on the show! 😉
Adam commented on 13 Mar 2012:
I don’t know why you would talk about a specific fart, but if you actually wanted to talk about the gas that came out, it would be Flatus 😛
