      The setbacks. When you do an experiment and it doesn’t work and you don’t know how to fix it. I had this fairly recently and it was so frustrating, took me about a month to work out.

      Trying to keep myself motivated to do work when I don’t have any deadlines! I was give money for 4 years and told to write a thesis at the end of it. Trying to make yourself work in the early years is hard!

      I think I agree with Leila – it’s self motivation. We have short term things, and long term things to get done, and ultimately if we don’t get them done we don’t have a job. But short term it can be hard to remember that, and easy to get distracted, for example by answering every single one of the 400+ questions in the space zone! 😉

      Somedays, getting up in the morning (at 6:10 to catch the right train);
      Somedays, getting the computer code working just right so it behaves like an experiment;
      Somedays, getting the experiment working just the way I think it ought to;
      and somedays, finding the time to do everything that needs to be done.

      But I still love doing science!
