• Question: when sirius implodes/explodes, will it create enough light to light half the world like the sun for a prolonged period of time?

      Scientists reckon that Sirius will go supernova in about a billion years time, and it will be an especially strong and bright explosion.

      Not only will it light up the sky, but it will bombard Earth with dangerous radiation for maybe a few million years! Some palaeontologists reckon that stars going supernova nearby maybe caused some of the mass exctinctions we see preserved in the fossil record!
