      In what way?

We’re finding new things all the time – and there are tons of books, TV shows and great websites with information about space….

Are you disappointed you don’t learn more about it at school? How much do you get to do these days. I know I didn’t do much at all and read a lot about space out of lessons because I was so interested.

We know heaps about space! Is there anything in particular you think we don’t know?

There is always lots of research going on to find out about space. It can be very expensive though, especially sending missions to other planets like Mars. Sometimes it can be difficult to get the funding to do these kinds of missions. Some people think it is more important to spend the money on other things like researching diseases.

We are learning about space, but it is difficult because space is far away, and it is also expensive to get there, and the laws of physics mean that we can’t (sadly) zoom around like in Star Trek but have to be quite patient. For example, a probe called Juno was sent last year to Jupiter but it won’t get there for another 4 years.

We’re trying! And we already know loads and loads, but the problem with studying space is that it is sooo old and sooo big, and we have to stick to the laws of physics, like the speed of light! So we can only probe as far as physics lets us at the moment, but maybe one day we’ll be able to look further.
