      The moon usually turns red just before and eclipse or when the moon is low in the sky, because the sunlight that makes the moon shine is passing through the atmosphere of the Earth, and all of the dust and pollution that are in the air make it look red. It’s the same reason we get red sunrises and red sunsets!
